The right employee retention strategy is important for a company to be productive.I looked at survey data with 1470 observations and 37 descriptive attributes. For this project, I looked at attrition with training along with the attributes of job satisfaction, environment satisfaction, total working year, current role years, years with manager, monthly working income and age.To make training more effective in keeping our employees, there are two important findings.
We see that trained employees who are leaving spend on average 2.6 years with their manager. That is at least 40% less than the employees who stay or leave without training. This is a concern because this means employees leaving unsatisfied do not even spend enough time with their manager. This means they do not get to relay their job and environment concerns as often. Further analyzing,if employees increase 6% of their Total working time spending with their manager, ie extra two months then these employees would be retained with training.
We see that employees who leave with training spend the least amount of time in their current role. This is at least 50% less than the employess who stay or leave without training. This means that employees leaving unsatisfied with their job do not spend enough time in their current role. If the employees increase 12% of their total working hours in their current role which amounts to four more months then employees would be retained with training.
In summary, increasing time with their manager and their current role along with training should decrease job dissatisfaction and increase retention. In my Techinical Appendix, I talk also compared the monthly median income amongst employees leaving with training and vice versa and show further analysis on job satisfaction with training. Please do not hestitate to contact me for further questions at my email, rmondal@seattleu.edu. I can also provide you with the Techincal Appendix for further details. Sincerely,
